PIZZA, Warmth & Connection

Since the early days of March 2022 at the Medyka border, HopeFull has been a constant source of nourishment. What began as an emergency response evolved into a nationwide operation that, over three years, reached 1,750 different sites across Ukraine (Our Legacy). By March 2025, our teams had served over 2 million pizzas—a staggering milestone that represents more than just food; it represents 2 million moments of relief in the face of conflict. Though we have had to scale back our Eastern service, the footprint of that mission remains a testament to what collective kindness can achieve.

OUR MISSION

Our mission has now transitioned into a sustainable, community-led model of support. By partnering with Dr. Oetker, who generously donates the pizzas, we are able to keep the spirit of this project alive in the West of Ukraine. We provide the essential infrastructure—our specialized pizza vehicles and high-heat equipment—on loan to local communities who carry the torch forward. This ensures that the nourishment of food, love, and community continues to flow even without our constant physical presence. We remain deeply connected to these teams, visiting and supporting the locals whenever possible to ensure the 'Magic of the Pizza' never fades.

MAGIC OF THE PIZZA

One of our local team describes the ‘magic of the pizza’ here:

“Men who are returning to life after the horrors of captivity and torture in Russian detention gathered at the centre. It was a simple but important meeting — about warmth, listening, and support." Chaplains listened attentively to their stories, shared words of hope, and prayed together. Soldiers came by, exchanged a few words, and each conversation carried a sense of humanity and mutual respect. We treated them to delicious pizza. The baking process, the flames in the oven, and the aroma of fresh pizzas captivated many — they saw the fire for the first time and watched it with curiosity. The oven’s warmth seemed to heat not only the food but also their gazes, making conversations easier.

The pizza became a symbol of simple human warmth: a gesture that says, “You are not alone.” Around the shared meal, a feeling of home and unity was born — exactly what is needed on the path to recovery. This meeting was about small but important steps: presence, listening, and warmth that help people return to a new life.”

DONATE

A hot meal is a gesture of hope for those returning from the horrors of war and their communities. Join us in providing the food, love, and kindness that fuels the journey home.
